Taurus PT 92 and IDPA

Postby fxdryder » Mon Nov 01, 2010 2:54 pm

Being new to IDPA I thought I'd seek a bit of guidance. I couldn't find a clear answer in the IDPA rule book.

I have a Taurus PT 92 that does NOT have the hammer drop feature on the frame mounted safety. When you load a round and engage the safety, it is cocked and locked. In order to start with the hammer down, you would have to manually lower the hammer onto a live round using your thumb. For IDPA purposes, is starting a stage in the cocked and locked condition considered appropriate, even though it is a double-action pistol? And what classification would this gun be in, SSP or ESP?

Thanks

Taurus PT 92 would be an SSP, and yes you can start with the safety on; locked and cocked from the holster, similar to CDP 1911
